The Carbondale Community High School Music Department is practicing for the Solo & Ensemble Contest on March 7th at Herrin High School.
Every year, The Illinois High School Association runs the Solo & Ensemble Contest where Soloists, small groups, and choirs made up of all similar instruments perform in front of judges.
“Starting back in December we started looking at individual pieces of music that people were interested in doing, and then during class time we’ve been giving students an opportunity to practice with their groups,”
“We have about 70 events going to Solo & Ensemble this year between Band and Choir, and that is everything from vocal solos, clarinet solos, all the way up to Brass Choir which is about 20 people”
Herrin High School is hosting the Solo & Ensemble Contest for schools in the Route 13 corridor area. Spectators are welcome to watch performances at Herrin High School on March 7th.
