As the transition from middle school to high school is approaching, future Terriers from all feeder schools around the area were invited to attend 8th grade day on Thursday February 12th. The day is designed for future students to learn more about what they should be expecting going into high school, and how to prepare. Mr. Thomas, the principal here at CCHS gives more insight as to what this day is all about. That evening, students returned with their families to learn more about what was needed to start their freshman year and just get general knowledge of the administrative team here at CCHS . They also heard from their future counselor Brenda Krutsinger, who will be there to follow them throughout their four years here at CCHS.
“So yeah 8th grade day and night, basically the 8th grade day is for our incoming 8th graders, and we have all four feeder schools represented. Carbondale middle school, Desoto, Giant City, and Unity Point. They spend about two hours here and they learn a lot of information in the auditorium, and then they’re able to see our building and they went to our elective fair, to see some of the offerings we have to you know give students information. It really let’s all the 8th graders know it’s your first step in high school and it’s a big life transition.” said Ryan Thomas, principal here at CCHS.
