For Luke Randolph Journalism isn’t just another regular English class but a chance to do something different. Instead of taking a regular course with regular routines and assignments, he wanted something different, something unique. Journalism offered him the opportunity to have creative freedom in his writings and the opportunity to try something new.
One of the biggest challenges that Randolph faces in Journalism is getting a strong detailed answer from the person he’s interviewing. While some of the people he interviews are more talkative others aren’t. This forces him to think quickly and ask more questions to keep the conversation going.
“When writing an article you should definitely use some of your own time at home to really make sure you use the word limit and get some good quality in there” said Luke Randolph.
Many people are surprised that Randolph is a very creative person. Randolph enjoys designing objects with systems inside of them that help control the movement of objects in games.
When he’s not in school Randolph enjoys talking to his girlfriend of five months, something he values. He also enjoys playing video games like Helldivers 2 and Besiege.
One thing Randolph thinks makes a good Journalist is being able to be social with the people you interview and being able to help connect more with the community. This helps to find better people to interview.
When choosing his favorite Articles Randolph says it’s difficult to just choose one so he chose all 3. He says he likes writing them as well as talking to people and going around for him is something fun rather than stressful. Journalism gave him a chance to be able to step outside and engage with the people in his community.
“Just I feel like it’s fun anyways to write if the deadline is getting close I just write faster” said Luke Randolph.
As he continues to grow as a writer Randolph’s enjoyment of Journalism shows us that he found something he truly did enjoy doing.
