Blunt, straight to the point, no wishy-washy stuff, that’s Eva Throgmorton. She decided to take journalism to get away from your normal English class.
While taking this class she has improved her communication skills along with her writing skills. Writing articles after articles with different prompts really helps improve the skills. As a normally introverted person, Throgmorton has had to step out of her comfort zone when it comes to interviewing people for her articles. To help with this she stays focused on the task at hand and makes sure she has strong questions prepared before the interview.
She likes to make articles about things that she goes through on a daily basis, for example, Throgmorton is a CNA and a Carbondale Community senior class of 2026. Her favorite assignment was the first article we did. Hers was “CNA students gain hands-on experience”. It talks about how CNA helps build your future, gaining connections and experience in a field that she intends to pursue after high school.
Eva is a focused and hard-working CNA student who prides herself in taking care of people. She values the difficult balancing act between work and school and the lessons that she has learned along the way.
When she gets stressed out, she tells herself to turn it in so it’s over with.
Her advice to future journalism students.
“Do not sit next to Lilly Barr and Connor Gulbrandson,” said Throgmorton.
