In 2015 the Future Educator Association (FEA) officially rebranded under PDK international as Educators Rising. At CCHS students found interest in this organization, and formed a chapter in the School year of 2018. It wasn’t long after we started participating in the organization’s conferences and competitions, that we formed an education career pathway at CCHS during the 2021-2022 school year run and taught by Ms. Love.
The Educator Career pathway at CCHS consists of a total of 4 different classes, each taught by Ms. Love. The first class available in this pathway is Exploring Careers in Education

“As an intro class we have Discovering fields of education…you don’t just have to be a teacher, we are also looking for Principals, assistant principals, superintendent. There are so many different areas in the school that we can be effective in as educators ” Says Ms. Love when asked about the Educational field.
The class included learning the history of the education world, studying what qualities make up a good Educator, and finally consists of a portrait of a perfect teacher, and highlighting the qualities they should strive for to be a successful educator.
“ I learned more about the history of education, and how it has changed over the years. That I think is important to know while being a teacher.” says Senior Amelia Jones
The second class recommended to take is educational methods, where you delve deeper into specific teaching methods. Such as forming lessons, lesson related activities, test and quiz questions, and how to grade.

After you finish getting the basics of education you then have the opportunity to take 2 available, John A. Logan, dual credit courses Human Development and School and Society. Dual credit courses give students the chance to get college credits while still at the High School.
“ I want students in the organizations that want to be in the organization, I want students in the organization who are looking to invest their time, that can eventually get us to a place where we can start competing at a state, and eventually the national level, in a bunch of different categories that Ed rising offers.” Ms Love says when asked about her long term goals.
Once the educational classes have a strong enrollment, Ms. Love wants to start competing at a state level with educators rising, consisting of 12+ education based events to compete in.
