CCHS spirit week starts Monday, December 8th, 2025, and runs through Friday December 12th. Anyone student or staff can participate all they have to do is dress up according to the theme for that day.
The themes for the week align with the current season of winter. They consist of Holiday pj Day, Red and green day, Christmas character day, ugly sweater day, and class distinction day. On Thursday during the week there will be terrier fest for a little extra holiday fun.
Spirit week is a unique way to spread terrier pride throughout the school. Having the spirit week is a great way to bring together the school. It makes Carbondale stand out to other schools.
“Because it’s fun and I feel more a part of the school community” said Williams-Collins.
Having this extra little spike of dopamine helps students in more ways than one. It brings people together. Dressing up and sending pictures to Mrs. Jones helps yourself get featured in the yearbook. You get closer with your friends. Overall, the week is filled with jolly good times.
Finals are right around the corner which has students extra stressed out. The spirit week before helps relieve the built-up stress that’s caused by finals.
“Yes [holiday spirit week] gives me a great comedic relief with the thought of finals,” said Young.
Having a spirit week is a great way to relax before finals the following week. It helps build a community within the school. Teachers get to relax and be more comfortable with the coming days of grading all those finals.
“I can wear more comfortable clothes and it’s fun having the community of CCHS all participate” Said Harsy.
