Toys for Tots is a program that’s been ongoing since 1947 and is spread across the United States. This organization collects toys for children whose family is not financially able to provide them with a Christmas. Toys can be donated to multiple locations around the area, but specifically is being held here at CCHS this year. The event is being held by the schools key club but previously has been hosted by student council for the past couple of years. Toys brought here at school will be collected December 10th and 11th throughout the school day. Key club is an organization focused on giving back and providing for the community, hence why they chose to be a part of this year’s drive.
There’s a lot that seems to go on into the process of organizing this event, it’s an ongoing yearly process, mainly circulating around the winter months, November-January. Boxes are distributed all throughout town to local businesses in which people can add newly bought items for kids of any age. Some larger companies may also donate money for the organization to go and buy toys.
With the school being a part of this drive for a little over 3 years now, the overall goal is just to provide kids in need with a good Christmas experience. The organization’s goal is to never have to turn a kid away, which is why 99% of toys collected all over the US are given back to kids in need.
“Our main mission is just making sure kids have something to wake up to on Christmas morning” Said Gaia Mcvay, a therapist from Centerstone

Overall Toys for Tots is a very uplifting and global organization that really focuses on providing kids and their families the holiday experience that they deserve. With the help of Key club and other staff around the school it was able to be a successful drive with an even more successful outcome. Through the community and their own involvement, Toys for Tots was able to fulfill their mission this year in making sure every child had something to look forward to this Christmas.
