Carbondale community high school was full of Halloween spirit this October, 31 with boo bags all around. During the days leading up to Halloween students decided to surprise their friends, staff and teachers with boo bags filled with candy, juices, and toys for them to show the Halloween spirit.
The idea behind boo bags is simple but sweet, to secretly gifting a Halloween treat to Brightening someone’s day. Students enjoy the mystery and excitement of receiving a boo bag, not knowing who it came from but enjoying the kindness and mystery of it.
“It’s Halloween and you know kids love candy, everyone loves candy…” said Ambre Smith.

By Halloween day, the school was filled with boo bags all around and laughter and smiles all around. These boo bags brought a whole lot of spirit to the terriers that day.
“ Planning for actually building the boo bags started over the summer. I met with my team where we began to plan out the fundraisers for different community services and things we want to do as our organization and so actually over the summer. They marked out and said hey can we do this event for Halloween and make our boo bag…” said Rasheeda Love.

This activity wasn’t only about the sweets, it was about the kindness behind the gesture and the appreciation students had for one another. This shows how thoughtful the CCHS community was towards each other.
This boo bag event proved that once again even the smallest gestures can make a big impact to everyone all around and that spreading kindness can be just as sweet as candy everyday.
