For many seniors, the application process is the most stressful time of the year. But understanding how to go about filling them out could save you all the time and stress. Here’s some tips every student should consider when going about their college applications before hitting that submit button.

“The best thing students can do is start early, like even summer, and make sure they set aside time each week.” Freshman counselor, Mrs. Klaybor said.
Preparing early and creating things such as spreadsheets or documents with upcoming dates can help space out the overload of things applications may require from you. It’s important to know the required information for applications such as essay prompts, parental information, as well as getting your transcripts.
When speaking to students here at CCHS, it was a common pattern of many people not knowing what to expect for upcoming applications or what they didn’t feel enough informed about.
“The most challenging part of it all was gathering all the information that was needed and not understanding how to get it all.” Senior, Elena Reyes, said.
Her experience with applications is something many students go through considering students don’t have people to rely on or always have access to the right sources. Taking the extra time out of your week or even month to stop and ask questions can make the process feel much more manageable.
If you’re unsure where to begin, you can start by visiting your counselor. They can help you set goals or requirements, review essays, and make sure that you’re meeting all the necessary requirements. The earlier you start, the more confident and in control you’ll feel when it comes time to submit your applications.

With all preparation and being able to plan ahead the college application process may be easier than you think it is.
College applications can be both a stressful and exciting time of the year, but it doesn’t have to be a weight on your shoulders. Instead, make sure to plan early and beat those deadlines.
