What is a fishing season? A fishing season consists of different types of fishing methods depending on the time of year it is. This makes fishing special compared to other types of outdoor game.
While fishing is year round, many people may think you can just drop whatever into the water and get a bite. This is where fishing gets complex and interesting. Now who may be affected by this year’s fishing season? Everyone and anyone. For fishing anyone can go out and drop a bobber in the water, but knowing how to fish the season that you are in makes you an above average fisherman.
Every season has its complex ways of being able to strike a fish either using a top water, swimbait, live bait, or a jerk bait. Now why is this? This is because of a big thing called water temperature. This crucial element factors what the oxygen level may be, food availability, spawning, and water clarity. Now it greatly depends on the location that you are in at the time.
Carbondale is currently experiencing the fall season during the given time of November 4th of 2025.
“This year’s fall season greatly lengthens the genre of fishing gear that we are able to use,” family member Jimmy said. “Fall and summer are the most flexible seasons for fishing as for winter and spring it can be less flexible.”
The fall season is mostly a fishing frenzy for fish which makes it easy to throw in almost anything to get a strike.
“The fish during fall are much more active and expecting different types of foods,” parent Tim said. “This makes using almost any lure or fishing method much easier than other seasons.”
This year’s fall fishing season started during September, this means the fall season is coming to a close soon, as winter is right around the corner. For winter it will be very hard for fishing due to the water temp being lowered drastically. While this may sound bad it does have its benefits, the oxygen levels are higher meaning the fish may be more active. With winter it’s harder for fish to get food meaning their metabolism is slowed down making it harder for them to digest food that they come across.
Get out to fish before winter rolls around, the weather is almost perfect for fishing hours and hours on in during this years fall fishing season.
