While students enjoyed a night inspired by the excitement and glamour of a casino, a lot of work happened behind the scenes to bring this Vegas night to life. From decorations to final touches, preparation for prom started long before students arrived.
Students and staff worked together transforming the venue into this year’s casino-themed experience. Decorations were carefully arranged, tables were set, and every detail was designed to capture the energy and elegance of a night in Vegas.
From assembling decorations to coordinating the layout of the venue, the preparation took teamwork and dedication. Those efforts helped turn an ordinary space into an immersive prom experience.
Though guests may have only seen the finished product, the work behind the scenes helped make this casino-themed prom a winning success.
As the last few days for seniors are approaching, younger classmen have the opportunity to “Kiss a senior goodbye” , an event hosted by Key Club, which allows anyone to send a sweet treat to their favorite senior. These candies are available for purchase during both lunches April 27th through April 30th, and will be passed out next week during terrier time. This event is a fun way to say bye to your favorite former classmates and send them a little gift as they make their way to transition out of high school.
A fun event for people of all grades to participate in, make sure you support the key club here at school and send a little sweet treat to your favorite leaving senior.
Brenda Krutsinger is the counselor for the 2026 senior class. All four years, she has helped the senior class prepare for graduation. This is how she does it.
April 30th. Inside the auditorium at Carbondale Community High School, everything feels different. Today is Decision Day.
Students gather together, all thinking about the same thing—their future. Some are excited, some are nervous, and some still aren’t sure what comes next.
Across the country, this moment connects to National College Decision Day, when seniors choose their next step after high school.
It’s not an easy choice. There’s pressure, expectations, and fear of making the wrong decision. But the truth is, there is no perfect path, just the one that feels right for you.
Decision Day isn’t the end. It’s the start of something new.
On May 12th, the seniors finally say goodbye to Carbondale Community High School, and go on to the next chapter of their lives. It seems the general consensus is that seniors are excited to move on and go to college, or leave Carbondale, but some others seem to feel nostalgic during their last weeks of school.
All that’s left to do now, is wish our seniors good luck before they leave.

The Terrier Baseball team is looking for a solid postseason run this year. The bats are heating up, big plays are being made, and players and coaches are getting excited. The team has gotten more competitive and shown great improvement throughout the year, already putting up a fight to teams they expect to face in the postseason. Pitching and defense have been their strong suit, and knowing the plays will be made is a huge advantage. They work hard day in and day out to improve their physical and mental game. They talk about plans during an at-bat, work on strong fielding mechanics, and cover proper base running techniques. They continue to improve day in and day out to make sure they are prepared for good competition.
The new construction at the D-wing has been ongoing for roughly 6 months and is half-complete.
Superintendent Dr. Daniel Booth has been present for the entire project, from the planning stages beginning 5 years ago and the full construction beginning last october.
After October 2026, students will be able to enjoy more hands-on learning in science classes while still keeping the same class sizes and teachers.
The Carbondale strip has gone through many changes, with restaurants and establishments coming and going, but one that has been here since 1975…
It is everyone’s favorite Deep pan Pizza Place, Quatros. opened in 1975 when four guys (hence the name quatros) from Chicago decided that they wanted to make a pizza place in the quaint little town of CARBONDALE. With reliably tasty DEEP pan pizza.
They have some of the best specialty pizzas around from their Philly cheese steak pizza ( a personal favorite of mine) all the way to their vegetarian option the Beonca, with a blend of garlic ricotta, mozzarella, and fresh sliced cherry tomatoes.
But it is not the only Pizza Place on the strip. There is a new girl in town and she is turning plenty of heads, everyone’s favorite brick oven pizza place… Rip’s pizza was established march 28th 2024 by Rip Hayes, and Lucas Roes and has been bringing the flavor ever since.
With beautiful pizzas that show off their deliciously fresh topping and their creativity in making a Fantastic blend of flavors on their signature sourdough Crust. This especially stands out with the fig and prosciutto, and the chicken cordon bleu pizza. Also infamous for there roatiserry chicken and there super size MEATBALL
I think that we and all agree the real winner is the carbondale local food scene
