Carbondale Community High School Athletics has partnered with Vic Koenig Chevrolet of Carbondale to raise money for athletic programs using a raffle system to give away a Chevrolet Trax. Each athletic program is assigned 10 raffle tickets to sell for $100 per ticket. Tickets can also be purchased by contacting the CCHS Athletic Department. There are 500 tickets available for purchase, and there are still many available.

According to Gwen Poore, Athletic Director at Carbondale Community High School, any profit from this raffle will go towards funding for not only athletic programs, but also utilities used throughout the year by all students.
“We would use the money for padded chairs that we use in the gym for games, like volleyball and basketball,” said Poore. “And all of our signings… we’d use [the padded chairs] all the time. So things like that that benefit all kids, that is what the money would be used for. If we need to buy snacks, if we need to help a program with their banquet at the end of the year, things like that is what the money would go towards.”
The process of purchasing a ticket is a very simple one because there are multiple different ways to do it. Possibly the easiest way to do this would be to contact the CCHS Athletic Department via email. A purchaser could also contact the coach of a program, since each program is provided 10 tickets to sell themselves. There is also a Venmo that can be reached by reaching out to Mrs. Poore.
The drawing is projected to take place in the CCHS Gym on Saturday, December 13, during halftime of the Carbondale vs. Chicago King Prep. The game starts at 8:30 p.m., so the drawing is anticipated to take place around 9:30 p.m. The drawing will be conducted by placing all purchased tickets into a box and mixed up, to give every purchaser the same opportunity to win. Being present is not necessary to win, and the winner will be contacted then provided with the additional steps to receiving the car.
