At Carbondale community high school (CCHS) we have one of the most anticipated moments of the year, which is Terrier fest, an event that acknowledges students for good behavior, grades and attendance.
On December 11, 2025 terriers came alive with terrier fest, a celebration held during school hours that brought together freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors in recognition of their hard work and commitment through the quarter. Eligible students from each grade were invited to the gym during one class hour to celebrate.

“It’s fun seeing the students have a good time and celebrate especially winter terrier fest because everyone will be in they’re ugly sweaters that day and just seeing everybody enjoying the Christmas season” said Brandi Jones.
What makes terrier fest special is the way it honors students for positive behavior and their academic responsibilities. To qualify, students had to meet several important requirements by December 11, maintain 90% attendance, and have less than 5 referrals.
Inside the gym Terrier fest buzzed with excitement as students were gathered with their classmates, sharing laughter, energy and school spirit.Teachers and staff worked together to coordinate games such as inflatables, volleyball and activities that let the students unwind, connect and feel acknowledged for their hard work. Terrier fest didn’t just feature games but also a wide variety of snacks like chips, drinks and cookies at the entrance. While terrier fest isn’t just about fun but it’s a powerful reminder that they’re personal responsibility and positive choices are noticed.
“I think it was really fun, honestly I came for the fest but instead I left with many memories that I’ll never forget” said Martin Xoxotla Perez.
In a world where academic pressure and social challenges can easily weigh down students, events like terrier fest offer them something invaluable. A sense of belonging, pride and school spirit towards them.
For many students it’s a day they look forward to a day that says we see you. Over all it was a memorable event that brought school spirit to Carbondale community high school.
