Big Mouth Season two
October 11, 2018
If you’re like me, a show you’ve been waiting for is season two of the Netflix original Big Mouth. Big Mouth’s first season came out last September and was an instant hit among all ages. It even has a hundred percent on the Rotten Tomatoes site. Big Mouth was created by Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett.
Big Mouth follows the lives of a class of seventh graders. Including three best friends who happen to be our main characters Nick Birch, played by show’s creator Nick Kroll, Andrew Glouberman, played by the comedian John Mulaney, and Jessi Glaser, played by Jessi Klein. Season one we follow our main protagonist through there ever changing lives on top of having to deal with puberty. Be it from having to deal with anxiety to your first crush, or a very interesting Bat Mitzvah.
Season two we get more in-depth moving past the three main characters and introducing a few new faces even. In this season I was happy to see some more from some of our background characters like Coach Steve, the sex ed teacher, who doesn’t even understand it himself, Lola the mean girl, and their schools most social media handy boy, Mathew. I was also happy to see a whole new character: “The Shame Wizard” voiced by David Thewlis, and if you’re a Harry Potter fan like me you can recognize him his other role as Mr. Weasley. The Shame wizard brought a new element as being that little voice in the back of your head making you doubt yourself, and he was a nice protagonist against the Puberty monsters who at this point seemed invincible. We also get to see the world of the Puberty monsters humanizing them a bit showing us their office space and how they make decisions with other Monster on the children’s lives.
Overall, it was a great season with a great exposition of the plot leading up to the last episode where I can only hope they were leading to a few new characters for season three. Overall I would say season two was a hit and I can’t wait to binge the next season.
