Heading into this new game the Terriers were determined to bounce back from a tough loss. said “ I think there’s been a lot of pressure on the team now since we started rough being one and four so we kinda have to win out, every game for now on so we can have a playoff game. We have to win or were not going to playoffs so I think there’s pressure all around now” junior Mac Fenton, said. In the beginning Carbondale came out with a strong hit keeping the pressure on Granite City.
Leading up to the game the players had felt confident but focused. Said “ I feel good about it even though we’re on a losing streak right now, I think it will help us and get our motivation back for our next couple of games, ” junior Davin Wooley,said.
“I think that the game this Friday will be a great matchup, they’re a lot bigger of a school then us but we both had seasons that aren’t necessarily what we wanted so it will be two teams that really need a win, and I think that if we keep the way we practice this week, if we can actually apply that to the game..”Coach Phen Grant
And that’s exactly what happened. The Terriers were standouts with their quarterback Davin Wooley who scored 3 passing touch downs!. Going back Martin Xoxotla Perez helped fuel the Terriers offense performance with a strong control. The offense line gave them the protection and pushed the team needed all night.
By halftime time the scores were looking good with the Terriers having 40-0!. The team never slowed down, ending with a strong score of 43-13.
After the game, the team celebrated their victory against Granite City.
For the players this game meant more than just improving their record against other teams. It was proof of dedication.
As Terriers start preparing for their next game one thing is clear is that they’ve definitely proven themselves as a team.
