Carbondale Community High School will be on the activity schedule for the homecoming pep rally that will start on October 17th, 2025, at 2:10 pm. Weather permitting, the pep rally will take place on the football field where there will be several games for the students to participate in with Spirit Stick on the line.
The Spirit Stick is a black and white stick with black fur that all 4 classes compete over by winning points through a variety of games throughout the week concluding with the pep rally games. Winning the Spirit Stick gives bragging rights to the winning class for the rest of the year.
Hallways are decorated according to the Homecoming theme ‘Disney’ for points towards the Spirit Stick. The shopping cart race has two areas of judgement. The decorated cart and the race itself. The race style is a relay with all 4 grades competing at once. One person is in the cart while another is pushing the cart then those two people switch with the next participants which is repeated 3 times on the track.
All students are invited to participate in the pep rally games if they sign up in advance. The members who are in the games get called from class just an hour early to talk about who is doing what. They only get that one hour to discuss strategy. Most of the games are the same from previous years, getting ideas from TikTok and other nearby schools.
Last year the senior class won the spirit stick. Was this due to having 3 years of previous experience or luck?
“Upperclassmen have a slight advantage due to more experience” Carter O’Dell, a sophomore at CCHS, explained how upperclassmen seem to have an advantage over the underclassmen with more experience.
Logan Wright a very active member of the senior class, who has been in the pep rally games for 3 years.
“Yea I think so, we [senior class] know what to expect” Wright said.
