On September 25, 2025 the Co-op class conducted the first podcast style interview, for a new podcast project, in the Co-ops makeshift podcast studio. The purpose of this new podcast series is to give students a better understanding of employability skills.
The “Co-op” or Cooperative Education is a program offered at Carbondale Community High School that gives students the opportunity to get hands-on experience in the workforce as well as a career readiness class. The students in this program leave school and go to work after the 5th hour.
The idea for the podcast is the brain child of Dallas Terry, the Head of the CTE Department at CCHS. The podcast plans on focusing on a different topic related to employability each episode. Each week will showcase a different guest that works in a field that correlates with the topic of each episode. The class came to agree that the guest that would be best for adaptability would be a police officer.
“I reached out to officer Dillow because not only is she going to know those type of things, but also, our students are familiar with her,” Terry said.
Terry then reached out to the school’s previous resource officer, Sergeant Stephine Dillow to be the guest. Dillow explained how she has to use adaptability on a daily basis.
The podcast is being hosted by Mr. Terry and an alternating student, as the rest of the students in the program will be working as the crew. These students will be getting hands-on experience running cameras, operating sound boards, and lighting operations.
The Co-op program plans on making a monthly podcast to be posted. The next topics to be covered are going to be initiative and self drive.
