At the end of every year at CCHS, seniors prepare to take their next step into the real world. For many seniors, this exciting time comes with a common struggle known as senioritis. As graduation gets closer, some students start to lose focus, making it harder to keep up with schoolwork. This disease can cause your attendance, grades and motivation to plummet for the rest of the school year. That loss of motivation can affect your future plans after school like if you’re planning to go to college and you get scholarships and then you catch senioritis. If your grades start to slip, you could lose that scholarship. While senioritis can be tough, there are ways to stay on track.
Setting small goals can help students manage their workload without feeling overwhelmed. Keeping a routine like taking time each day for homework and it can make a big difference. Staying involved in clubs or sports can also help students stay motivated. I personally play on the tennis team and it keeps me motivated to keep my grades up and go to school so I can play in the tournaments.
I wanted to know if senioritis has invaded the class of 2025, so I had to talk to the guy who knows all about this school so I made a visit to Coach Stamp. I asked Stamp if he had seen an outbreak yet in our class and he said “ yes I do and I see many Seniors start to lose focus at this time of the year”. He also said that the health organizations have not yet said that “Senioritis “ is a real disease but it is and we should all take it very seriously.
Some seniors at CCHS have found ways to still stay motivated. For example I talked to Talan Robison and he said “ I stay motivated by just knowing I’m almost done with my last year and I want to end strong “. In the end, senioritis can be a challenge, but with some effort, students can push through. By setting goals, staying organized, and keeping their future plans in mind, seniors can make their final months of high school successful. Graduation will feel even more rewarding when they know they gave their best until the very end.
