Homecoming, a time of dancing and joy, is often a source of debate and conflict. Students of Carbondale Community High School had many opinions to share on this topic. Starting with Venessa Sullivan, an attendee, who shared her opinions on the music saying “ I really didn’t like the stupid remix things they did with the music, I like the songs how they are.” Sullivan added “I really liked the decorations…The theme was so-so… But the decorations made it awesome!”
Lara Oues, a senior at Carbondale community high school, gave her detailed opinion on this year’s homecoming saying “it was a lot of people especially, the line outside” and adding “ I think the neon balloon colors that they used were really cool. I am a little disappointed that there weren’t enough disco balls. So I feel like they should have incorporated more disco into their decorations.” When asked if she’d go back to this homecoming if she had the opportunity she swiftly responded with “ I mean, I feel like I would go again just because a lot of my friends would be going. But if not, I probably wouldn’t try to persuade any of my friends to go to it.”
A sentiment that was often shared among interviewees were the opinions on the music choices was that it wasn’t the best or up to par with many of them, like senior student Rowan Boucher, saying “They [the music}] weren’t bad, could’ve been better especially when they started to repeat songs.” Boucher gave some positive remarks as well saying “ They [the decorations] were super duper fantastic and cool,” she added “I don’t think I would have changed anything [about homecoming].” Boucher then added when asked what she thought about homecoming responded “It was quite fun.”
