CCHS held their 2024 Powderpuff game on Wednesday, October 2. This was a female football game with juniors versus seniors, and the winning team versus the faculty team. Both teams practiced every week Sunday through Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. CCHS seniors Lorenzo EcFord, Owen Lee, and Talan Robinson were the coaches for the female seniors, and CCHS juniors Emilio Isspeih and Brailyn Barry were the coaches for the junior team.
The night of the game, both teams formed their pre-game strategies in order for their team to win against the other. The senior’s strategy was to score touchdowns, catch the ball, run fast and win. Their opponent had a strategy of their own to defeat the seniors.
“Our pregame strategy is to walk into the game, [and] be ready for the seniors,” CCHS junior Zaqqarie Hamilton said. “They will lose…[so] stay motivated and help each other out.”
During halftime, the male cheerleaders from each class performed a cheer routine, Audrey Brumley being the coach for the male seniors, and junior Emma Bloodworth for the male juniors. The cheerleaders were there to cheer for each of their teams throughout the whole game.
The seniors won against the juniors 7-6. After the seniors’ victory, the Kpop dance team performed a routine with the song “Back Door” by Stray Kids to hype up the attendees.
“The thing I enjoy most about dancing is the energy of making people riled up and happy,” Hope Magee, Kpop dancer and CCHS junior, said. “I also like performing in front of people in general.”
The seniors then moved up to play against the faculty team. The faculty beat the seniors with a final score of 7-0.
