This school year at Carbondale Community High School there have been a lot of new rules. Some of these rules are the Bell to Bell phone policy and the semester long Social Suspension.
Phones have become a problem here at CCHS when it comes to recording conflict or just overall just being on them when you’re not supposed to and not getting off them when told to, That’s why this year our administration has decided to implement the Bell to Bell phone policy.
Another problem we’ve also had at our school is being disrespectful towards teachers, insubordination, and fighting. That’s also why our administration decided for the semester-long social suspension instead of the 9 week suspension. The social suspension makes it so you can’t go to dances, in school and after school events and sports for the entire semester.
Mr. Booth, our superintendent said“ If you can’t act right during the school day, how will you act right after the school day when we’ve got people from different communities on our campus.”
When it comes to acting right during school then you should do it because then you can go represent our school and participate in the fun school events but if you can’t act right then you won’t be able to participate at all and miss out on the fun aspects of high school.
The new phone policy also comes into play here because if you can’t follow simple directions then how are you gonna follow them outside of school.
Mr. Booth also stated that “ We had to have a conversation about what we come to school for and we come to school to learn.”
