Last year of high school, Senior year. It opens up a lot of chances to do new things you couldn’t do in your other three years. For example, being a TA. A TA is a Teacher Assistant. As a Teacher Assistant your responsibility is to help out the teacher and do what is needed of you, but this also varies from teacher.
“Somedays are really busy, I’m just back and forth doing a lot of things,” Arianna Pryor said. She also claims that sometimes she feels like she’s a TA for the whole science hall, though “helping the teachers and being able to relax after” is the best part of being a TA.
Most seniors become a TA for the teachers they like and for they have something to do instead of just having a study hall. Unlike other classes there’s no way to fail but you still have to get there on time. Tardy still counts.
Depending on who you are a TA for you might get to be one with friends, like if you were a TA for the council department.
“Love it, love Fatima, Lara does most of the work so it’s basically like a study hall,” Owen Lee said. “But a con is that if you’re an athlete it counts as a study hall so you can only fail one class,” he added.
Being a TA is more than laughs and giggles you also get to learn. With being a Teacher Assistant, it comes with experience. “It’s like having a job without getting paid,” Deasia Patterson said. As a TA you get more hands-on learning experience. And what you’re learning could change from if you’re helping an English teacher to a CTE teacher.
