On Monday, April 8th, 2024, the solar eclipse occurred; this happens when the moon travels between the Earth and the Sun, casting a shadow on the Earth’s surface. The 2024 solar eclipse was visible over approximately 128 miles of Illinois.
A well-known TV program, Good Morning America, arrived at 5AM at SIU Arena in Carbondale, Illinois to cover the event. Dan Manzo, a producer for ABC news & also GMC, provided some details of how behind the scenes for him go on a day to day basis:
“I’m a ugh meteorologist and field producer at ABC News, and what I do is I travel around the country; I go to big weather and climate events and I figure up how were going to get on TV and how we’re going to cover these events and what the news is going to be from these events; I go around interviewing people asking them about their experiences.”
