Piano class is not very talked about in Carbondale Community High School. During 4th hour Piano class is taught by Katrina Wood, they have many pianos to play on and use headphones to individually hear their music. “I started when I was really little and I’m mostly self taught, and took some piano classes in college. A lot of it at the  very beginning is learning how to read music and learning how to read rhythms, so when we see our sheet music we know what we’re looking at it, and it doesn’t seem like a whole different language. But then after that they work their way through the piano book and have little songs that they have to play. That build the skills they need to play larger skill pieces, that they are working on for their finals. I like it from a really young age and would kind of just pick out songs I heard on the radio or that my parents would sing to me when I was really little, I apparently had a little toy keyboard I would play around on ”

“ This is my first time ever playing it. It wasn’t really a choice. I just thought it would be fun we just be working on songs out of our book”. It’s a lot of information on how to play and learn more about pianos.
