What is HOSA?

Here at CCHS we have new clubs arise every year. This year on that list of new clubs you will see HOSA.

A lot of people look at the list and ask “What is HOSA?” HOSA stands for Health Occupations Students of America.

HOSA is for students who think they may be interested in the healthcare field, or maybe they have no idea what they want to do, but they want to learn more about healthcare.

As president, my goal with HOSA this year is to help get the club started, get it out there so people know about it, and get members who are truly interested in healthcare.

I want to help students and answer any questions they might have about certain careers and if I can’t answer their questions I can get them connected with someone who can.

The goal is to help guide them down a good career path that they are going to love and be successful in.

We are currently working on getting some guest speakers to come in and talk to us. We are looking for anyone in the healthcare field.

Someone we can ask questions such as, what is school like, what their day-to-day job includes, what are their work hours, all questions only people doing these jobs that have been through it all can answer.

I think it would be a great opportunity for all of us students going into the healthcare field to get to talk to some people about their experiences and get a little insight into what our lives are going to be like in the future.

HOSA is actually a national student organization that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education Division of ACTE.

The mission statement behind HOSA is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.

HOSA overall provides leadership development, motivation, and recognition for people pursuing healthcare.

We like to say HOSA is 100% healthcare!!
