Coach Troy Barton is the new head basketball coach at Carbondale Community High School. Barton is married and has two children, one is 5, and the other is 1. He is in year 15 of coaching and has coached in all levels of competition from High School, Junior College, and Division 1 Basketball. 

Barton got involved into coaching at a very young age as he always loved to compete with his large family and it was just second nature towards him. Barton still loves the game and enjoys making a difference in young men’s lives. He wants his players to be successful while in the classroom and keep the graduation rate up. Barton is now taking over a successful program in Carbondale and wants to keep this success alive.

“You don’t replace a legend like Coach Miller”, Barton said, “you just look to continue the success that he has had… and I think that we are going to be a lot better towards the end of the season than we are right now”.

The Terriers Boys Basketball team and Coach Barton open the season at the Shells Thanksgiving Classic in Roxana on November 22 vs North Greene.
