Hair care routines are essential for natural (black people’s) hair. Rather than just being able to wash one’s hair in the shower, dry with a towel, and throw their hair in a bun, this simple procedure for somebody with natural hair can potentially dry or break one’s hair.

Since natural hair is prone to damage, it is crucial that one handle’s this type of hair with a perfect mixture of caution and patience. Next, I will provide a step-by-step method for a natural hair wash day routine.

What you need:

Shampoo, conditioner, plastic bag/ shower cap, wide tooth comb/ pick, ponytail holders (quantity depends on the thickness and length of hair), water (optional), moisturizer, and oil.

  1. Wash hair with shampoo, then rinse. Repeat until hair is thoroughly clean.
  2. Apply conditioner throughout the whole head. Do not rinse. Put a plastic bag or shower cap over hair and let is sit for 15- 30 minutes.
