NBA Award Predictions
The 2018-19 NBA season is finally underway and here are my predictions for all the awards this year.
——————————————————————————————————————————
Most Valuable Player:
Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans
Anthony Davis is an unstoppable force in the league and has been wreaking havoc on opposing big men for years now. With his partner in crime, Demarcus “Boogie” Cousins, leaving him for the Warriors, Davis should get more touches, points, and more action on defense. The Brow has been on the fringe of an MVP award for the last couple of years and I think this year he gets his big break.
Runner-ups:
- Giannis Antetokounmpo
- Lebron James
——————————————————————————————————————————
Defensive Player of the Year:
Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans
What is this you say? MVP and DPOY for The Brow? Crazy, but I think all the more possible with Boogie gone. Davis was 2nd place in both contests last year, but he might take the cake for both this time. I mean come on, who is scoring on Anthony Davis?
Runner-ups:
- Kawhi Leonard
- Rudy Gobert
——————————————————————————————————————————
Rookie of the Year:
Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks
Doncic might be the second coming of Larry Bird. He might be the second coming of Larry Bird with his amazing skillset. One of the most prolific playmakers coming into the league this year and I think he’ll shine.
Runner-ups:
- Deandre Ayton
- Miles Bridges
——————————————————————————————————————————
Sixth Man of the Year:
Lou Williams, Los Angeles Clippers
He won it last year but I have no doubt that he’ll win it again, 20+ points off the bench is hard to come by and I feel that he’ll put up similar numbers this year.
Runner-ups:
- Carmelo Anthony
- Kyle Kuzma
——————————————————————————————————————————
Most Improved Player:
Tim Hardaway Jr., New York Knicks
Big year is in store for this guy who hasn’t really put it together quite yet. With Kristaps Porzingis out for a good amount of the season somebody needs to step up in New York. Tim Hardaway Jr. is the man who pulls the team together.
Runner-ups:
- Jamal Murray
- D’Angelo Russell
——————————————————————————————————————————
Coach of the Year:
Brad Stevens, Boston Celtics
Stevens was snubbed from the award last year and the Celtics are in for an even bigger season this year so Stevens will have no issue winning this one.
Runner-ups:
- Luke Walton
- Steve Kerr
