Top 5 Halloween Costumes for High Schoolers in 2018

Kylie Measimer

Douglas Coupland once said, “I think if human beings had genuine courage, they’d wear their costumes every day of the year, not just on Halloween.” Since school dress codes and societal norms prevent high schoolers from wearing costumes every day, students look forward to the one day a year they get to dress up. However, every Halloween, high schoolers around the country struggle to decide what costume to wear. Look no further for costume ideas for every personality!

1. Hype Beast

Required: All designer clothes, such as Supreme, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Adidas, or Nike

Always wanted to be one those cool guys that are always showing off, but aren’t an awful person? This Halloween, dress up in your most “flee” gear and become the guy everyone hates, yet is convinced he is the coolest. Top this costume off by telling everyone at the costume party to check out your “fire” mixtape on Soundcloud.

2. Moth

Required: Brown/Gray Shirt, Black Pants, Gray/ Brown Wings

Are you a wallflower that needs an excuse to stand near a lamp or light post the entire party while wearing an outfit so drab that you won’t catch anyone’s attention? This is the perfect costume for you!

3. Broke College Student

Required: T-shirt, Sweatpants, Apathy (bonus points if your clothes are dirty!)

Prepare for your imminent future by imitating a lazy, money-less college student! Carry around a dusty textbook or empty backpack to emphasize the overwhelming sense of carelessness.

4. Social Media Influencer

Required: Leggings, Tank top, iPhone, Random scam product

This easy costume allows you to become a faux celebrity with millions of followers whose career is entirely selfie and advertisement-based. Carry around a mock miracle weight-loss tea, booty-growing lotion, or any type of trendy product, which, coincidentally, will be just as fake as the products influencers advertise.

5. No- Costume Costume

Required: Your regular clothes

Are you a empty human being incapable of having fun that is intent on ruining everyone else’s night? Show up to Halloween festivities wearing your regular clothes, and spend the night telling everyone how Halloween is for children and your refusal to participate is a representation of your maturity and superiority.
